According to numerous sources, the iPad very may be released with a built in webcam. Although apple did not announce that it will come with a webcam, check out the image of the iPad that Steve Jobs is holding. It appears to have a webcam in the top middle of the base.
Apple has not yet released any information about this or what kind of specs the webcam will have, but knowing apple, they are probably withholding a lot of spec information so that when they are ready to release, they can make the iPad that much more appealing by announcing that it does indeed have everything we are all hoping it does have.
Well, this information is not that surprising. I mean, could you imagine if the iPad was released without a webcam? This device is meant to be the portable device of the future, and not having a webcam on it would mean that it would be a downgrade from the iPhone. I believe the iPad will have all the great features the iPhone has (besides obviously phone capabilities) and more.
Also, the iPad SDK has the iPad’s contacts application in which there is an “Add Photo” button, so you can assign a picture to your contacts of course. What is odd, however, is the prompt that pops up: do you want to “Choose Existing Photo”, or do you want to “Take Photo”?
So there you have it folks, the iPad might come out with a surprise camera built in front of it.
