Computer manufacturers across the world are gearing up to compete with Apple’s iPad. HP is all set to release their device, “Slate”. Although as per the company’s spokesperson it was developed much before iPad but its launch was strategically held back.
HP wanted to understand the features and price tag of Apple’s iPad. HP has decided to keep the product pricing much lower than what apple has introduced. It would be interesting to see if they can add more features to their device before it is made commercially available.
PC makers including Sony, Dell and Acer are also gearing up to introduce their versions of iPad-like smart devices. Apple has set a benchmark in the industry by introducing a product like iPad much ahead of its time.
In the long run some of the analysts feel that it would be difficult for PC market to grow and sustain if the market of electronic slates shoots up. Ultimately the question would be who would buy a blackberry or any other smart phone? An electronic slate can perform all functionalities of PC or a laptop.
HP has played it safe by holding on the launch of their “Slate” product. They can utilize the time lag between now and iPad’s commercial availability period and introduce a more powerful device.
Over the years HP has become a generic name in the PC and computing world. Today more number of buyers prefers buying HP product than Dell. It has been offering high quality products with unmatched services.
The arena of electronic slates is all set to hot up with newer players entering the market in small to medium term. Eventually electronic slates will become the order of the day and users can get to benefit from the richer applications & functionalities from each new launch.
