Match 11 is the day the second-generation iPad was launched. Judging on the eve of the release of the current iPad and its subsequent sales, iPad 2 has all the signs of long lines during launch day. Waiting in line would however be much shorter if one goes with other retailers other than just any Apple Store. The truth is, a good number of retailers have already hinted of availability on March 11, as much as that is the launch day.
The most unfortunate thing however is that not even one retailer has shown acceptance of pre-orders. Nonetheless, you can be at the helm of the line come March 11. Best Buy’s through their site confirm iPad 2 will be available from the first day while Walmart has it already listed online. However, it is wise to call every store individually simply to confirm the availability. There is also an indication on the Verizon website iPad 2 will be available for sale from March 11 while AT&T are yet to communicate on the availability of the iPad in their stores.
In recent past Walmart and Best Buy have both received very few numbers of new devices, sometimes in their dozens or more likely, devices not more than ten. What you should remember is that in case you are the top three in a line in a store that has already confirmed to sell the iPad 2 on launch date, it is a guarantee you will receive one. For the rest it will be a waiting game before the device becomes available.
When the original iPad was being launched, the going was much easier and smoother for anyone who had preordered. Currently, there is no hint on Apple’s site on preorders, meaning the only choice you have is joining a frantic queue. Due to lack of preorders online, to have the new tablet shipped to one’s residence and retail preorders, you can be sure lines will be much longer as compared to last year. If you do not go early to buy the iPad they will be gone in no time.
Don’t forget getting iPad 2 depends on your location. Since preorders are seemingly unavailable, one can only purchase the iPad online or simply pop in a specific store and purchase one on the release day.
iPad 2 is going on sale on the 11 of march at 5pm. You will not find it while stores open their doors but from 5pm! Since preorders are absent, lineups will be immense, or that’s the obvious guess. Arriving on a store early or spending all night before a store will be meaningless since iPad 2 will only go on sale from 5pm for customers in the United States.
For international customers, the device goes on sale from March 25 in Belgium, Australia, UK, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland, France, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Norway, Spain, Luxembourg, Poland, New Zealand, Greece, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Germany, Portugal, Austria, Iceland and Czech Republic. Other countries in Africa, Asia and others will be receiving the tablet some times in the year, although no dates have been availed. However, iPads work internationally and anyone who cannot wait can buy the device from another country by traveling before March 11.
