Applidium is a well known App developer for iPhone Apps, and they’re first crack at developing for the iPad is just as impressive with the VLC Player for iPad. If you don’t know, VLC is a cross-platform media player app that will play just about any type of file, audio or video.

The obvious benefit is not necessarily having to convert files for the iPad, which can be made easier through previously mentioned apps such as the Xilisoft iPad Magic App, though at a cost.
VLC Player is free, though it turns out it only allows the use of Video, and while normal videos (say TV Shows or movies even formatted for CPU) seem to play fine users experience a bit of bugginess when they try to pop on large format video (720p or higher).
